Car Insurance Lincoln (Car Insurance). Rent a Car at 20??????????

Rent a Car at 20?????????? I am going to Anchorage Alaska and I am trying really hard to find a place there that might rent me a car. I am 20 years old and I know that in a lot of places that you have to be 21. I also know that some will let you get away with being 20. I was just wondering if anyone knows if there is a place in Anchorage Alaska that might do this.

You will certainly find it difficult to hire car at the age of of 20 as car rental companies don't prefer renting their cars to 21 yrs or below. It is the basic age to get a rental car. But you may try as some car local rental companies as you might get a car but the price would surely be on the higher side. Actually, most places it is 25 and you must have a credit card. Srry. Insurance agencies suck, they are the top reason why you cannot find a car rental at your age.

Lincoln . Question about buying a used car?

Question about buying a used car? The vehicle that I'm currently looking it is at a dealership. They have the carfax posted online, and it looks good other than 1 thing. The car has two owners, the first owner owned the car for 7ish years and put 80kish miles on it. The second owner only owned the car for 2 months though and put around 3kish miles on it. Does that sound fishy to you? The car's priced right, it's not ridiculously cheap or anything. I'm also going to check it out this weekend. Some input would be nice though. Thank you car insurance.

Lincoln . 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee making knocking noise ideled and while accelerating....?

97 Jeep Grand Cherokee making knocking noise ideled and while accelerating....? It appears to be allot of us experiencing the same problem with their Jeep Grand Cherokee (mine is a 97) relating to knocking, rattling noise. Mine knocks while the car is idling and increases to what sounds like a rattling/knocking when I accelerate. I sometimes smell oil, but not all the times. I have had a two mechanics look at it and a personal friend mechanic said it was coming from deep within the engine and it would be costly and time consuming to research and AAA mechanic said it was coming from deep within the engine as well. It does sound like it has something to do with the exhaust, but I know as much about cars as I know about going to the moon. I was reading one of the responses posted 1yr ago from “Chris K” an ASE Cert. Jeep/GM/Ford Tech w/29 year’s service experience. And feel confident that he’s on target and anyone looking to fix this problem, I feel like their see an opportunity to make allot of money, since I don’t know anything about cars. I try to print out possible resolutions from sites like Yahoo Answers/Jeep Grand Forum to assist the mechanic searching for the problem and they seem to shoot down the print out theories I supply them from the internet. My car has 240,000 miles on it, but the family friend I got the car from was a stickler on the maintenance and kelp great records on the service to the car, so I don’t feel like I got a lemon, cause other then this noise the car is running fine. I wish we could get a clear answer to this problem. I’m currently unemployed and cannot afford to take it to another mechanic right now. If anyone has gotten the problem fixed, please specify exactly what was fixed and is it a do it yourself job, with no mechanical knowledge? HELP!!!!!!!!! car insurance.

Lincoln . How to Remove Rear Drum Brakes in Nissans & 4Runners

Nissan vehicles and Toyota 4Runners, depending on the year, feature drum brakes. The brake shoes can be adjusted, but will eventually need to replaced once the adjustment runs out and the shoes are thin. Rear shoes wear out slower than the front discs, but you should still check them every 3,000 miles after the first 30,000 miles. Worn rear brakes can cause shaking in the brake pedal. Worn shoes will also damage the drums to the point where they can't be turned.
Difficulty:Moderately Challenging
Instructions Things You'll Need
Lug wrench
Screwdriver
Floor jack
Jack stands
Set of wrenches
5-pound hammer
Brake tool
Pliers

Step by Step :
1
Remove the hubcap on one of the rear wheels, using a screwdriver. Loosen, but do not remove, the lug nuts with a lug wrench. Jack up the vehicle, using the floor jack, and support it with jack stands. Remove the lug nuts, and pull the wheel off the axle.
2
Loosen the brake-adjustment nut, using the appropriate wrench. Pull off the drum. If the drum sticks, tap it with the five-pound hammer.
3
Remove the shoe hold-down spring retainers, using the brake tool. Depress the retainer while rotating it 90 degrees to line up the retainer slot with the pin flanged end. Remove the retainers, springs, spring seats and pins, using pliers.
4
Push the brake shoes outward against the return springs. Remove the parking brake extension link, using the pliers. Disconnect the brake shoe return springs, using the pliers. Remove the shoes from the backing pate. Remove the clevis pin, and disconnect the parking brake toggle lever.
5
Remove the rubber boot from behind the backing plate. Slide the adjuster shim, lockplate and adjuster springs off the back of the assembly. Remove the adjuster assembly from the backing plate. Repeat steps for the other side.
Tips & Warnings
Do not press the brake pedal when the drums are off.

Lincoln . How to Replace a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier's Brake Cylinders

The wheel cylinders on your 2000 Cavalier are hydraulic components located at each rear wheel that use hydraulic pressure to actuate the rear brakes. The brake fluid is forced into the wheel cylinders, forcing two cups outward which push against two pistons, that push against the brake shoes, slowing or stopping the car. If a leaking wheel cylinder isn't replaced immediately, the leaking brake fluid will ruin the brake shoes. Replacing the rear wheel cylinders on your 2000 Chevy Cavalier is something you can accomplish in your yard in about 2 to 3 hours.
Difficulty:Moderately Easy
Instructions Things You'll Need
Jack
Jack stands
Wheel chocks
Lug wrench
Return spring tool
7/17 & ½ inch flare nut wrench
Allen wrench set
Wrench set
Brake fluid
Brake cleaner
Penetrating oil

Step by Step :
1
Park the car on a firm and level surface. Place wheel chocks in front of and behind one front wheel. Loosen the lug nuts on the rear wheels by turning them counterclockwise with the lug wrench. Keep them finger-tight.
2
Place the jack under the jacking pad on one side of the car and lift it until the rear wheel clears the car. Place the jack stand under the rear portion of the frame and carefully lower the car onto the stand. Repeat this on the other side.
3
Remove the lug nuts and wheels and set them aside. Remove the brake drums and set them aside.
4
Remove the hubs. Spray the four hub retaining nuts behind each backing plate with the penetrating oil. Rotate the hub until one of the bolt heads is exposed. Use the appropriate tool (usually an Allen wrench) to hold the bolt while turning the nut behind the backing plate counterclockwise with the wrench. Pull the hub off and set it aside. Repeat on opposite side.
5
Remove the brake line from the wheel cylinder by turning the fitting counterclockwise with the flare nut wrench. Don't use a regular wrench as you may round the fitting off and be unable to remove it.
6
Remove the return springs by inserting the center stud into the round open part of the return spring tool and turning it counterclockwise. Repeat this with the other spring. Let the springs hang.
7
Remove the two retaining bolts behind the wheel cylinder by rotating them counterclockwise with the appropriate wrench.
8
Pull the brake shoes apart and push the wheel cylinder out.
9
Pull the shoes out from the backing plate and insert the wheel cylinder in the opening. Install the bolts by inserting them through the holes in the backing plate and turning them clockwise by hand. Tighten the bolts to 15 foot-pounds.

Step by Step :
10
Reinstall the brake line by threading the fitting into the back of the wheel cylinder clockwise. Tighten the fitting to 17 foot-pounds with the flare nut wrench.

Step by Step :
11
Remove the two pistons from the old wheel cylinder and insert them into the openings on the sides of the wheel cylinder. Pull the brake shoes apart and slide them into the prongs on the pistons.

Step by Step :
12
Hold the hub assembly in place and insert the bolts through the holes and thread the nuts onto the ends of the bolts, turning them clockwise. Tighten these nuts to 43 foot-pounds.

Step by Step :
13
Use the return spring tool to replace the return springs over the top center stud.

Step by Step :
14
Replace the brake drum. Replace the wheel, inserting the lug studs through the lug holes. Thread the lug nuts onto the studs by hand, turning them clockwise.

Step by Step :
15
Repeat steps 5 through 14 above on the other side.

Step by Step :
16
Bleed the brakes, starting on the passenger side. This process removes the air from the brake line. Have a helper depress the brake pedal 3 to 5 times and hold it. Crack the brake line fitting and allow the fluid and air to escape. Repeat this until no more air escapes. Repeat this process on the driver side. Refill the master cylinder under the hood as necessary.

Step by Step :
17
Raise the vehicle and remove the jack stands. Lower the vehicle and tighten the lug nuts to 50 to 60 foot-pounds.
Tips & Warnings
A special brake bleeding tool can be bought that will allow you to bleed the brakes yourself. Follow the instructions with the tool.

If there is brake fluid on the shoes, replacement is highly recommended. If not, spray the shoes with the brake cleaner, allow to dry and lightly sand them with either 100 grit sandpaper or emory cloth.

Don't get any grease on the brake shoes.

Don't perform this service in a driveway or on sloped ground.

Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes.

Is the pointer closer to the right mark? Is it farther away? If it's farther away, you have moved the distributor in the wrong direction. Go back and move it the other way. Every time you move the distributor, go back and check again with the timing light. 3. Repeat Step 2 until the pointer is pointing to the correct timing mark. If your idle speed changes, adjust your idle to specifications and recheck your timing. Then tighten the distributor hold-down clamp again, making sure that you don't move the distributor when you do so. Check again with the light. Are the timing marks dead on? Good! (You can be off a little bit without causing trouble, but be as accurate as you can without driving yourself crazy.) You now have your car timed perfectly, which leads to much better engine performance and fuel consumption and cuts down on air pollution. 4. checked your dwell, idle, and timing. You just completed a basic tune-up! If you had a little trouble, would it have been worth big bucks to avoid it? Probably not. (As I write this book, the cost of tune-ups seems to be going up daily.) Plus, by doing the job yourself, you know that all the work has been done and done properly. Congratulations! Fixing. Electrical Gadgets That Are on the Blink Periodically, you need to fix electrical doodads and gizmos that are on the blink. Maybe your stereo quits working, your turn signals don't blink, a headlight burns out, or something else goes wrong. When these small but inconvenient problems arise, you can usually fix them yourself, easily and with very little expense. This section shows you how. Your battery should be checked and maintained regularly. You can find instructions in Chapter 3 for dealing with it as part of your monthly underthe-hood check.

Changing fuses A fuse box is easy to recognize (see Figure 12-51), and replacing burnt-out fuses is a fairly simple matter. If your stereo, clock, map light, turn signal, or other electrical appliances stop working, chances are that a fuse has blown. Changing a fuse is much cheaper than paying for a new clock or for repairs that you don't need, even if you chicken out and have an automotive technician do it, so take a few minutes to find your fuse box. It's usually located under the dashboard often behind a panel or in the engine compartment. Your owner's manual can help you locate it. Before you open or work on your fuse box, be sure the key in the ignition is turned to "Off." To fix a blown fuse, look for a fuse that's black inside or no longer has its filaments intact (see Figure 12-52). Unless you have a blade-type fuse with prongs, take a bobby pin or paper clip, bend it, and use it to pull out the bad fuse. Then press a new fuse into place. When you've replaced all the burnt-out fuses, try your stereo or clock again. If it still doesn't work, then worry about having it repaired or replaced. . Chapter 12: Keeping Your Electrical System in Tune 0/ 9 7 Figure 12-51: Automotive fuse box and fuses. Figure 12-52: A good fuse (top) and a burnt-out fuse. Replacing and adjusting headlights Today's vehicles feature many kinds of illumination: headlights, taillights, directional signals, and fog lights make it easier for you to see and be seen; overhead lights, map lights, lit glove compartments, and illuminated mirrors on sun visors all require attention periodically. In this section, I deal primarily with headlights. If you experience problems with other lights, it's usually just a matter of removing the face plate and changing the bulb, or changing the fuse associated with the light. If that doesn't do the trick, seek professional help. There's one exception: If any of your directional signals stop flashing, or you

* If a light doesn't work on either high or low beam, you probably have a bad connection in the wiring. Before attempting to replace or adjust your headlights, you need to know whether you have the old-style sealed-beam units or the newer halogen headlights. Replacing halogen headlights Since around 1980, most vehicles have come with halogen headlights. Although they are twice as powerful as sealed-beam units and enable a driver to see 20 percent farther, they require less power to operate. To replace a bulb on a halogen headlight, use Figure 12-53 as a guide while you take the following steps: 1. Open the hood and unplug the electrical connector that plugs into the lock ring. 2.
